The Waxtails are a group of kobolds found in the Warrens in the Ringing Deeps. They are led by Torchsnarl and serve the Candle King.
History
During the war in Khaz Algar, the Waxtails had been appointed by the Candle King to run the kobold capital in Khaz Algar, the Warrens. Skitter, the leader of the Quickwick tribe, seeking to depose the tyrannical ruler, allied with Speaker Brinthe and the adventurers accompanying her. Together, they arrived in the city, where Skitter had adventurers use their flying mount to distribute pamphlets to the residents of the Warrens.[1]
The Waxtail were thugs sent there to keep innocent kobolds down and bully them into submission. So Skitter asked adventurers to fight them and free Oppressed Kobolds from their Waxtail captors.[2] She also directed adventurers to collect potentially useful scrap from around the Warrens that could be used to craft new homes.[3]
Candles are important to kobold society, and so Brinthe had an idea to disrupt their production. She instructed adventurers to take some cinderbrew and throw it on the large vats of wax the Waxtail were preparing.[4] While Skitter wanted adventurers to tackle Torchsnarl. As one of the Candle King's enforcers, Torchsnarl held sway over the Warrens and took vicious pleasure in oppressing dissent.[5] Though he was defeated, Torchsnarl ran away before he could be slain, escaping to Darkflame Cleft. A party of adventurers would some time later enter the Candle King's base and defeat him and his cronies, including Torchsnarl.[6]
