Warbands

The Character selection screen in The War Within allows viewing characters across all realms.

Warbands is an accumulation of account-wide game systems implemented during The War Within expansion. Its name refers to all of a players many characters as a "Warband" that share progress with each other. Its implementation intends to allow players to switch between alts more easily and bring clarity to account-wide versus character-specific aspects of the game. It includes changes in design moving forward into The War Within, and many retroactive changes to legacy content.

Warbands brought numerous changes:

• Account-wide progress for many reputations. See a list of Warband reputations.
• Clarifying and streamlining which achievements are part of a character's progression, and what are part of the account.
• The ability to transfer currencies between characters in the user interface, without the need for intermediary items.
  • See a list of transferrable currencies.
  • The [Trader's Tender] remains as the only "account-wide" currency, with the amount viewable on every character on an account.
• Sharing flight path knowledge across all characters.
• Share exploration knowledge across all characters with  [The Warband Map to Everywhere All At Once]
• The introduction of the Warband Bank, accessible from a bank or the [Warband Bank Distance Inhibitor] ability
• The introduction of Warbound until Equipped (WuE) gear (with Account Bound being replaced with Warbound)
• The ability for characters to obtain transmogrification appearances regardless of their armor type

Warbands have seen their introduction in the game world through the questline  [20-80] Warbands: Warbanding Together.

Currency

Currency has three tags related to the "Warbands":

• Warband Transferrable — This currency can be transferred between players using the interface in the currency tab.
• Warband Currency — This currency is account-wide, meaning the amount is displayed on all characters on an account and does not need to be transferred. The [Trader's Tender] and [Plunder] are currently the only available currency with this tag.
• Warband Reputation — This is the hidden currency that converts to a faction's reputation once obtained. They are commonly known as commendations, such as the [Valdrakken Accord Commendation].

Trivia

• Before Warbands, intermediary items were necessary to transfer currencies between characters, like the  [Paracausal Crate].
• Currency and quests that are in some way account-wide are marked with a campfire icon.
