Detectospecs

I made the detectospecs schematic tip elementary, having seen some other engineering tooltip be bowdlerized, by foxbot if memory serves. As I was unable to revive it trivially, I left it as-is. Perhaps I was in error to leave said other tip alone? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 00:21, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

WoW question

When are we supposed to use the {{WoW}} header? Rolandius (talk) 11:24, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

It (like {{Warcraft III}}) is for lore discrepancies between games, or things that only happen in one game or book and are not touched upon in other lore.--SWM2448 18:57, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Basically, yes.--g0urra[T҂C] 19:01, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Woops

I didn't see that you undid my entry. LOL I thought I was tired and was seeing things, and so I removed Garona again thinking I hadn't done it the first time. You can undo my entry again, but I did not make up the Spymistress name—although I am a guy. Spymistress Mehlisah Highcrown exists in Outland, so I thought she might as well go together with Garona Halforcen. Rolandius (talk) 13:27, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Bold edits

Gauntlets: I disagree. It's a disambig page. As it stands, there is nothing that looks like an item link to the individual items. Yes, there ARE links. But I argue that they don't LOOK like links. They look like tooltips. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:19, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Quite pleased. And I do thank you for the corrections. When I boldly go to split infinitives, the result IS a first draft. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:24, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

As you found the solution acceptable elsewhere, rather than have you trailing along behind me, is  [Plans: Felsteel Shield Spike] acceptable to you? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:05, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Must say that, with the 'more informative' disambig page style, I'm questioning whether the disambig template is still valuable on it. Mostly, I'm questioning it because I don't like how it looks there... Didn't mind it so much when the page was otherwise useless. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:11, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
It looks a lot better to me. I could live with it on the disambig++ pages, but I would not be as happy as without it. :) I'd approve it as a replacement for our current disambig template, certainly. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:33, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

"Did someone say, "Souvenir"

I've a screenshot: The quest name has the comma in it in the quest acceptance box. You've moved the page (some time ago) to remove the comma. Was the comma missing from the quest list dialog or something? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:34, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Your wish is my command. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:52, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
When I got the quest, I noted that those databases had the name incorrect. Thus, despite having found the name sans-comma on the very sites you name, I changed it. If you disbelieve that my screenshot reflects the current name of the quest, then the only resolution is to wait until October, when the event returns. I still admit the possibility that the name in the quest acceptance dialog might differ from that in the quest log dialog. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:11, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

re Grey Iron Weapons quest chain

Lines with carriage returns in them seem to bother you a lot. Enough for you to go in an edit the page, in any case. For me, what you did causes no change in how the page is displayed. So... why, then? What are you using, where having lines broken up does not display correctly for you? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:24, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

I found the line breaks - invisible to the user - of value when I edited the content. I don't find them so very useful that I would go back and add them back in unless I was going to substantially re-edit the content, though.
I don't want to create pages that folks feel compelled to clean up afterwards, so perhaps I need to rephrase my questions:
  1. ) how did these invisible line breaks come to your attention in the first place? What made the line breaks stand out to you? (Were you just randomly edit-browsing pages?)
  2. ) What improved value does your edit bring to the page, if the line breaks don't actually affect page layout? (Note the implied assumption there, which you did not address earlier.)
  3. ) Does it matter to you for a specific reason, or does it 'just bug you'? It doesn't matter from a practical standpoint, given sufficient motive, I'd change my behavior regardless, but I'd still like to know. I have my own 'just bugs me' issues, so I'm willing to accomdate. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:52, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Abilities category?

Sorry for my conflicting changes on [Vanish] etc. just a sec ago, but I'm a bit confused about the right category. Can you tell me what exactly is the difference between [[Category:Rogue abilities]] and [[Category:Rogue Abilities]] and when to use which?

I read the notice on Category:Rogue Abilities as, "this is only for the abilities itself, related articles should be in Category:Rogue abilities". Did I misread that? Thanks in advance. --User:Xnyhps/Sig 14:16, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for Infobox_ability Template guidance

After you left, I completed the discussed changes (to make buff names and icons optional), and reviewed the testbeds that you set up at [Seal of Light] and [Mortal Strike]. They, along with my testbed [Soothe Animal], all checked out to the original look, so I sent the changes to live and removed pointers to the sandbox.

I was irritated by the frequent "undos", but I'm glad I didn't let it show. You are very adept at expressing your critiques with very few words, and I am glad this community has you in the watchdog role. Cheers! User:JIM the Inventor/Sig1 01:25, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Casual Gamerz pages?

Is there a reason you deleted most of the pages that were there for Casual Gamerz on Sen'jin? I read the pages that you refered to that gave you your reasoning and they say that what was listed on the pages you deleted were valid data for those pages. I am not sure what your thinking was for this. Can you help me understand? Dparvin (talk) 14:28, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Please read the policy on writing guild pages, and especially the points about Wikisquatting and what's not allowed when writing guild pages and its subpages. I was not the one that marked them for deletion, and I cannot blame them for following the guild policy, and so should you. g0urra[T҂C] 14:32, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
I guess I am missing something. I still do not see what you are talking about. I can see possibly some of those pages like maybe the professions one being what you are talking about. Most of those pages were there for recruiting purposes, for people not in the guild to know what is going on with the guild and to have an idea of what our rules are without having to join our forums and spend time reading the pages there. I can easily setup my own Wiki if I wanted to, I have done so before. I am not trying to do any Wiki-squatting if that is your point. The not allowed list does not say anything about the information that was on those pages so I am not sure where you are coming from as far as that goes. Dparvin (talk) 14:41, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

"not Implemented yet" not correct

I pulled the sausage information from screenshots from last year's brewfest. It is not correct to say "not implemented yet" for this case, any more than information added from this year's "love is in the air" event would be. Asking for information to be updated (IE "stub") could be appropriate. A caution that it was information from Brewfest 2007 would also work... but would raise a standard leading to all event information being flagged for the specific year it was gleaned from. ... Not in itself a bad thing, but a slug of work, nonetheless.

Got thoughts on how to make this work? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:14, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Cool. Just didn't want to stomp on you {{NYI}} if you had a pressing reason for it. Going to update Essential Pretzel as well. ... just working through old screenshots, trying to cut down. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:25, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Children's Week quests

I see your fingerprints on some of the Children's Week quests, adding tooltip and etc. I haven't yet located my own screenshots from the children's week this year (though I think I did make some). Bough of the Eternals, as a particular example, you marked in the "children's week" category. As we do not currently have a Category:Quests:Children's Week, I thought to ask if you had any first-hand evidence of the correct category for these quests. If they did get recategorized (as opposed to "event" or "seasonal"), we should create the category, and put all the Children's week quests in it. Otherwise, we should probably put them in "seasonal", and add "category:Children's week" to the various pages. I'm good either way, but was hoping you had a record somewhere of the proper category, so they didn't get fiddled with twice. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:09, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Re:Hunter pets table - icon

Why? How is this in any sense 'better'?

Along with the esthetic and clarity considerations, the icons do not link to the individual hunter pet articles, but to the page that holds the icon. Seems borken to me.

I do not feel like getting into a revision pissing contest with you, so I'll ask you to please fix it. Madkaugh (talk) 18:26, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

I realize it's a slang term, but if re-posted with more content (perhaps an image of a red and yellow gear durability avatar), would it still be DNP? Actually, to be honest, I didn't see a portion of the DNP rules that dealt with anything even close to my article. Any response would be appreciated.--Casternumber9 (talk) 22:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

I just had a question, and can't figure out where to find an answer or who to ask, and you were the only one to edit one of my pages so sorry if this is misdirected. On Prev/Next questbox links

What I've been doing, for quest links, is using questlong for links to the first quest in the chain only, on the rationale that if you were doing later ones, you had to already have done the previous ones. ... with an exception for chains that have a level gap (like the Ungoro Silithid chain whose name I forget just now...). I'm not invested in the strategy, I just saw you were (similarly) doing questlong->quest.  :) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 15:27, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

In npcbox, city = is deprecated, please do not use it...

You recently undid my change to Shattrath City Peacekeeper by switching |repfaction= back to |city=. Please don't do this. If you look at Template:Npcbox and the source of Help:NPC_articles/Preload, |repfaction= is the recommended usage. The reason for this is that the variable doesn't really represent the city anyway. --Gengar orange 22x22.png Fandyllic (talk · contr) 6:51 PM PST 19 Aug 2008
