"The Lilac and the Stone" is a short story by Catherynne M. Valente published digitally on the official site on 17 June 2024.[1] It is also part of the anthology The Voices Within. It is illustrated by Ognjen Sporin.
It focuses on Moira Thaurissan's thoughts and worries about dwarven politics and parenthood, and on the future of Moira's son Dagran Thaurissan II, who has shown more interest in books than in his heirship of the Bronzebeard and Dark Iron thrones.
