Are there any quests that take you to this place? Or is it simply a city for goldfarmers.... >_> CJ 09:39, 5 Jan 2006 (EST)

A good source of  [Runecloth].
I'd be careful if you were on a PVP realm --SaudiGamer 18:08, 20 Jan 2006 (EST)

Possible inspiration

Tyrs Hand could be inspired by the God of Justice and stuff from the D&D Forgotten Realms, called Tyr, who's symbol is a hand.

It would also fit in with the religious holy crusader feel of the Scarlet Crusaders.

Just an idea.

Tyr's Hand is a play on words relating to the Norse God of Battle who got his hand bitten off by Fenris. Full story ->[1]

Destruction?

Not that I'm doubting it, but are there any images of the destroyed Tyr's Hand? --Joshmaul (talk) 20:34, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

In this build, Tyr's Hand didn't go up in flames like New Avalon and Havenshire, oddly. Though maybe not, as we never had any quests direct us into it... --k_d3 05:13, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
New Avalon and Havenshire get introduced and destroyed in the same expansion?  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 05:20, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
They only exist for death knights to destroy them. --k_d3 05:22, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh ok. Wow those towns must have the record for shortest time being around.  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 05:37, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

My friend in the beta test said the same thing, and all the quests I've read up on confirm that, but Tyr's Hand had to fall somehow. Then again, since Abbendis cut and ran, maybe it wasn't so much destroyed as abandoned? Still, it kinda had to be taken out of the way SOMEHOW, considering that short of hearthing, the road through Tyr's Hand is the only way out of the New Avalon region when we Death Gate ourselves to Ebon Hold. --Joshmaul (talk) 08:17, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Negative, there's a cave into the plague area just north of the mill. --k_d3 20:21, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, I think I answered this question once and for all. I heard somebody say that going through the place on foot would be a pain. Now I know why - IT'S STILL THERE. I had a fella on DK.info who's in the beta do a little investigatin' for me.

Changing the info accordingly...--Joshmaul (talk) 09:43, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

So is Tyr's Hand back to being a port?  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 09:53, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Evidently not, because the port is in (what's left of) New Avalon, which is technically not Tyr's Hand... --Joshmaul (talk) 10:17, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay. Although everyone says Darnassus has a port and it really is in Ruth'eran VIllage which is on the other side of the island.  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 10:21, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
It probably was destroyed, lore-wise. However, it is kept intact in the game for questing purposes I believe. Eman91 00:40, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Eman91

Monastery?

It says that Scarlet Monastery was erected in Tyr's Hand, but we all know that SM is in Tirisfal Glades standing alone. Is this a mistake? -IconSmall Dwarf Male.gifPaladinOkolorionTalk Contribs 21:10, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

It is from Lands of Conflict. The exact quote is: "In the city's center is the newly erected Scarlet Monastery, a grand edifice that rivals Stormwind's Cathedral of Light." This may be a proto-Scarlet Basilica (It is in the center, and looks like the SW one), a previous location of the instance at some point, or a building not seen in WoW.--SWM2448 23:25, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Watcher Tyr

Now that it's confirmed to be based on the watcher Tyr, [...] It was never said that it's based on him, just that there happened to be a hero who was called Tyr. The two seem to be unrelated. --g0urra[T҂C] 18:25, June 30, 2010 (UTC)

It seemed to be that Bornakk was saying that the Vrykul's experiences with the watcher Tyr eventually became (over thousands of year) legends and myths of a great hero named Tyr. It seems like too much coincidence otherwise to have the Guardian of Order Tyr be unrelated to a hero named Tyr who was a paragon of order. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 18:41, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
