Quick Summaries

Anyone with time to verify these able to update these pages? I'll link some threads that are pertinent. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13381600&postId=133603881&sid=1#0 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13291867&postId=132606448&sid=1#0 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13382234&postId=133609563&sid=1#0 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=34223818&postId=341707019&sid=1#0 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=14544594&postId=145035888&sid=1#0

I would like to see two parts to this page. Spells that can be stolen from other players and classes (PVP?) and ones that can be stolen from NPCs (PVE?).

//// Need to test if the Spell stolen by it is randomly selected or if its the last one buffed to the target, i always get ice barrier or power word shield when i spellsteal immediately after mage/priest buffed themselves with it(and yes, they still got enough other buffs i could have stolen) ////

A CM mentioned that dispels target a random buff from the target. I suppose Spellsteal also follows this rule. --bfx 08:15, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

Tips and Tactics

I'd like this page to be outsourced to an extra page, as it is not limited to Spellsteal, but to dispel effects in general. It could then be linked from [Dispel Magic], Dispel Magic (Doomguard), [Devour Magic], and all other offensive dispels' pages. --bfx 08:12, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

I agree there might need to be an extra page for this especially if it gets too crowded. However, the way spellsteal works is it will only steal a spell if it makes sense for a mage to have it (some Blizzard post). I believe not everything that is dispelable is spellstealable. So it would be a subset within dispelable abilities of spellstealable abilities.

I thought about making a list with checkboxes for two things: "Is spellstealable" and "Is worth being spellstealed". Attack Power buffs generally qualify more for being removed than being stolen, and as such it doesn't make a lot of sense to specifically list them on the Spellsteal-page. --bfx 17:48, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Thorns?

"Thorns can be stolen to do a short range, low damage, AoE nature spell." Is this a misunderstanding of how [Thorns] works, or does the spell actually change when stolen? --Azaram 09:08, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

I strongly doubt Thorns' effect changes when stolen. Now that you've brought it up--it doesn't even make sense to me. Thorns is far too weak to be stolen on purpose. --bfx 09:10, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, druids have the most powerful buff in the game, so powerful that nobody even notices if it's missing. :-p --Azaram 03:22, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Mana cost?

Earlier, I made the change to the mana cost on this spell to reflect the new reduced mana cost. It appears that some have disagreed with that change, as it was changed back with no reference to the 2.4.0 patch. So my question is, what is the new mana cost of this spell? If it is not 448 mana, what does it cost you?

--Mgg4 (talk) 21:34, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

The old mana cost is 29% of base mana, the new mana cost is 20% of base mana. I changed the mana cost from the absolute value you added to the internally used percentage; that way it will remain correct even with the introduction of WotLK. --bfx (talk) 07:41, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
