Kidney Shot & stuns

I know for a fact that Kidney shot is on its own diminishing returns timer. I can't give any references because I read it in a blue post months ago when diminishing returns was just being added, however, this can be attested to by any rogue who has used cheap shot, then kidney shot and noted that the kidney shot lasted for the listed duration. Cheap shot, however, is on the generic stun timer. Ziv 06:45, 29 November 2006 (EST)

Warlock Fear and Howl of Terror on the same?

The [Fear] and [Howl of Terror] are placed in the same category, which implies that they are affected by the same Diminishing returns. Is that correct? LarsPensjo 07:57, 9 February 2007 (EST)

Yes, that is correct. The warlock's pet Succubus's Charm spell also shares diminishing returns with fear and Howl of Terror as well.

Rogues, Mace Specialization Stun effect

I was playing my rogue today in PvE killing turtles, oddly enough, it said the mace effect failed: Target Immune. Is Mace Stun Effect still not on a diminishing return in PvE?

Blind

Changed DR entry to "no/no", since Blind is not affected by DR in PvP or PvE. - Assassinette, Stormrage EU 11:13, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Warrior Hamstring

Changed DR entry from Yes (in 2.4.0) / No to No / No since a DR was added to the root effect of Improved Hamstring in 2.4.0, not normal Hamstring. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by ReGauss (talk · contr).

Hunter Scatter Shot + Scare Beast + Intimidation

Anyone know if Scatter Shot or Scare beast are on diminishing returns in anything, or if they shares DR with anything if they are? I noticed they're not even on the list for the hunter. And does Intimidation have to deal with diminishing returns on a target that's been getting stuns from others either? Something that maybe someone could look into. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dessirris (talk · contr).

Warlocks have more Diminishing Returns abilities

The table on this page left out two of the Warlock's abilities that are affected by Diminishing Returns: Enslave Demon and Banish. These have DR in both PvE and PvP. Probably left out because of the lack of available targets for these spells (only Warlock Minions and Druids in Tree of Life form are valid targets for Banish, and there aren't any Demons you'd find in a PvP situation that you can Enslave (maybe other Warlock minions are Enslavable, I'm not sure)). Impact & Stuns

Impact is not a stun proc, please try it out before you change it. I play with a rogue on my mage, and impact shares DR with cheapshot(also confirmed on arenajunkies.)

Repentance

How came there's no paladin Repentance in the list? Added it, please change if anything is incorrect. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Peeveepee (talk · contr).

Same thing for Hex, needs to be added. 9/10/2009 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DrEnzyme (talk · contr).
I believe they aren't listed due to the difficulty of testing with the cooldowns > the DR time. I'll see what i can do in the way of testing it, but don't cross your fingers. I think I heared somewhere that Repentance share a CD, but again needs confirmation. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Razortooth (talk · contr).

Merge candidate

There seems to be a convention to get away from "Formula:" pages, so please help me incorporate the new Formula:Melee diminishing returns article into this one or other appropriate articles (like combat rating system). /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 4:33 PM, 6 Jun 2009 (EDT)

I disagree. They are two different things and should not be merged. Melee diminishing returns concerns the reduced benefit you get from increasing a melee stat as that melee stat gets higher. Diminishing returns refers to the lowered effectiveness of certain abilities, such as stun, sheep, fear, etc., if they are repeatedly applied within a short period of time. Melee diminishing returns is a constant effect which cannot be avoided while Diminishing Returns can be avoided if you are careful in how you use the abilities. I do agree though that "Formula: Melee Diminishing Returns" should be renamed either "Melee Diminishing Returns" or "Melee Stat Diminishing Returns." Dr. Morbius (talk) 19:45, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Howbizr, I agree with your second comment about this being merged with Combat rating system. Formula:Melee diminishing returns should be a subsection of the Combat rating system article. Dr. Morbius (talk) 19:54, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Agree with Dr. Morbius; these are distinctly different mechanics which should not be merged. Merging the current Formula:Melee diminishing returns page with Combat rating system seems reasonable to me. Zalambar (talk) 05:27, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Sleep shares diminishing returns with Sap

Hello. I'm playing feral/rogue and I just noticed this because we, for once, faced another feral and went for the paladin.

The rogue sapped twice, and then I hibernated, and the hibernate lasted 2.5 seconds.

I'm going to add Hibernate to the sap/sheep DR.

Sortable table

While its contents may be out of date, I've changed the table to make it sortable. This makes it possible to browse by category or name, and for me is much easier and more illustrative (providing a link to the ability, as well its duration, corresponding class, etc) than the plain-text list below it. I've done this by getting rid of the rowspans and just adding the class for each effect; I've added racials as (racial) to stop them from sitting next to the Rogue abilities in the list. While it might not look as good, I feel the added functionality is worth it. Ofc I don't know much about tables; if someone can improve it further, please do :) -- Taohinton (talk) 18:56, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

DR data for classic expansions

How should the page (or possibly pages) be constructed for diminishing returns data for classic era, tbc, soon wotlk and possibly more? I don't mind adding the table data over time, but I got no clue how to structure the wiki itself.

DRs in classic are a little bit different too as they expire randomly between 15-20 sec instead of fixed 18s like on retail. For pve/mobs in non-instanced zones it seems to be random between 18-26sec when I tested last time (prob due to low priority server batching, idk if it was temporary)

I also suggest removing the PvP Duration cell tab as it's tough to maintain over time and not really that useful anymore. In Classic it's not needed either due to heartbeat resist afaik.
