The simulacrum of Sindragosa is an arcane construct created from the eponymous blue dragon Sindragosa's knowledge and memories.
Biography
Centuries ago, Sindragosa created a simulacrum of herself to preserve her knowledge and memories. When the dragons were forced to leave the Dragon Isles, the simulacrum became dormant.[2]
Dragonflight
When the Dragon Isles reawakened, Kalecgos, the current Aspect of the blue dragonflight, traveled to the Azure Span to reclaim the Azure Oathstone in hopes of restoring his aspectral powers. When he attempted to activate the oathstone, the simulacrum became active once more. Expecting Malygos, the simulacrum surmised that much time had passed. Kalec explained that both he and the real Sindragosa were gone, and that their flight had nearly been decimated after Neltharion's betrayal. Those who remained were now scattered, but the simulacrum saw that Kalec still held hope and offered her aid in restoring their flight.[2] She explained that the oathstone could not be reclaimed until the ley lines in the Azure Span were repaired and directed him to find the tuskarr, who possessed intimate knowledge of the land.[3]
Soon after, Telash Greywing and Scalecommander Emberthal arrived at the Azure Archives in search of Malygos's information on the dracthyr's imprisonment.[4] She offered to help them, explaining that their books were only intended for the blue dragons, but her presence would enable them to read the relevant tomes. The books revealed that Malygos had been unaware of Neltharion's true plans for the dracthyr, though he had noticed him growing more distant—until Neltharion requested the blue Aspect's aid in sealing them away. Refusing to believe her, Telash furiously flew into the Azure Vault to uncover the truth for himself.[5] Telash aligned himself with the Sundered Flame and pillaged the vault in search of the blue flight's secrets. Sindragosa tasked adventurers with stopping them from unleashing the dangerous artifacts she had stored over the centuries. They fought their way through the Sundered Flame and the vault's forces, before finally confronting Telash. Though they defeated him, he managed to destroy the vault's final seal, releasing Sindragosa's darkest secret: Umbrelskul. Centuries ago, her son had been experimenting with wild magic and by the time they found him, they could not stop the crystal growth. She sealed Umbrelskul away, hoping to one day find a cure, but when they were forced to abandon the Isles, he remained in stasis ever since. Driven mad, the adventurers ended his suffering. After Umbrelskul was slain, she thanked them for their aid but remained behind to mourn her son.[6]
When Kalec returned from repairing the ley lines, Sindragosa informed him that the oathstone was only partially restored.[7] They decided to use what little power it held to summon the scattered blue dragons. After sending out the message, Khadgar arrived and warned them that Raszageth and the Primalists were advancing on Vakthros. Sindragosa explained that Vakthros was connected to multiple major ley lines and that if it were destroyed, the entire Azure Span would cease to exist.[8]
As Kalec and Khadgar prepared to depart, Sindragosa urged Kalec not to show mercy to Raszageth.[9] After repelling the Primalist attack, Kalec returned with the Azurewing by his side. Sindragosa asked what he had learned, and he replied that a flight was more than its duty—it was a family—and that it was time to bring them home, activating the Azure Oathstone.[10]
The Veiled Ossuary
As more blue dragons returned to the Dragon Isles, a few key members of the flight remained missing. To help find them, Kalecgos and the simulacrum first set out for the Nexus to bring back Azuregos.[11] Though initially annoyed by Kalecgos' visit, Azuregos quickly changed his demeanor upon seeing Sindragosa, and pledged his support in finding the missing blue dragons.[12] After Azuregos helped create the Dragon Locator, Sindragosa offered him a few words of wisdom. She told him that while she understood why he had secluded himself at the Nexus, to enter the Shadowlands and reunite with his lost love, Anara, she believed his task was impossible and that his love would eventually sour into bitterness. Instead, she urged him to find solace among his flight. Moved by her words, Azuregos promised to carry them with him for the rest of his days.[13]
As they searched for the missing blue dragons, the simulacrum kept a close watch on Haleh in particular.[14] As one of Malygos' last surviving consorts, she was grateful that Haleh had been there for him in his time of need and felt it only right for her to be the one who brought her back. In Winterspring, Haleh revealed that she intended to answer the call of the Dragon Isles, but insisted on completing her work first.[15] Sindragosa offered to help her finish cleansing the area, but as they worked, she took note of how much Haleh had burdened herself with. Urging her to take time for herself, Sindragosa brought her to a nearby hot spring. Though initially hesitant, Haleh eventually agreed and allowed herself a moment to relax.[16] Feeling renewed, Sindragosa convinced her to return to the Dragon Isles, if only briefly.[17]
After uniting the blue dragonflight, the spirits of Malygos and the real Sindragosa remained restless, trapped in an endless loop caused by their traumatic deaths. To free them, they needed to be reformed. With the help of the gathered blue dragons, Kalecgos used the magic of the Azure Archives to pacify their spirits. Now calm, Sindragosa asked what had happened. Her simulacrum reached out and connected with her, allowing Sindragosa to see and feel everything she had experienced alongside Kalecgos in recent times. Malygos apologized to Kalecgos for the burden he had left behind, but in the end, both he and Sindragosa saw that Kalec was a worthy leader of the blue flight and were able to rest. Seeing how far Kalecgos had come, the simulacrum believed her work to be finished and thanked Kalecgos before fading away. In the end, Kalecgos offered a final thank you for all that she had done for him.[18]
