Westfall (Rumble)
Westfall is the second zone available in Warcraft Rumble. The zone unlocks when the player has obtained 5 Onyxia Sigils. Westfall continues to try and teach the player about more intermediate mechanics, mostly introducing the player to different types of attacks and resistances.
Bosses
Vultros
“When Vultures kill an enemy, another will join the flock. Stringy meat, but makes a tasty stew!”
Vultros is the first boss located in the Westfall zone. He requires 5 Onyxia Sigils to unlock. Vultros' special ability causes more vultures to spawn whenever an enemy minion is defeated by a Vulture unit (Vultros counts to this). This effect only activates for the vulture units, not any of his other minis, however this can still be deadly -- especially if Kobolds are left unattended. To make matters worse -- there is a neutral Chicken spawn in the middle of the map that Vultros' vultures will immediately head for to pick apart.
Heroic Vultros retains the same abilities as his normal variant, however he now starts with a squad of vultures and there are more chickens spawned in the center. If the player doesn't immediately handle them -- they will become a huge pack of vultures that are large enough to kill most anything sent their way.
Old Murk-Eye
“Murk-Eye's slithering eel spear chains to multiple targets. He used to be an adventurous murloc, but then he took a hook to the eye.”
Old Murk-Eye is the second boss located in the Westfall zone. He requires 6 Onyxia Sigils to unlock. Old Murk-Eye's mechanic is straight forward, he attacks with a ranged, AoE piercing attack -- which will quickly make short work of grouped up minis. This encourages the player to take both lanes to spread their minions out, or at the least run bulkier minis that won't be quickly eviscerated by his eel spear.
Heroic Murk-Eye retains the same abilities as normal, however he will now spawn a near endless stream of Murloc Tidehunters down both lanes. While easy to defeat, they will quickly overwhelm the player if not handled. In the beginning of the match, he will also place a Stonehoof Tauren near one of the Guard Towers, that will immediately claim a chest, giving him a substantial early game rush.
Marshal Redpaw
“Footmen are Armored, reducing Physical damage taken by 50%. Use Elemental damage to cut through!”
Marshal Redpaw is the third boss located in the Westfall zone. He requires 7 Onyxia Sigils to unlock. His special ability is that he periodically spawns additional Footmen than just what is in his waves. As the description implies, their armored status makes them susceptible to elemental damage. These footmen come out in waves of 4, 2 to each lane.
Heroic Redpaw remains largely the same, except that his units are slightly changed and his footmen squads are now accompanied by Frostwolf Shaman. These shaman will alternate their spawn, starting on the left side of the map first. While not a significant change -- these small squads can easily overwhelm a lane if left alone.
Foe Reaper 4000
“Capture Towers and control the map! "A spinning augment would be killer!" "Sounds good, how do we turn it on?"”
Foe Reaper 4000 is the fourth boss located in the Westfall zone. It requires 8 Onyxia Sigils to unlock. Its special ability is that it has a constant 'whirlwind' AoE melee ability once engaged in combat. As a result, any minis that get within range of the Foe Reaper will almost immediately get shredded up. Ranged units have an easier time dealing with the Foe Reaper as a result.
Heroic Foe Reaper retains its spinning attack, however it and the Harvest Golems all now knock units back upon hitting them. Given the attack of the Foe Reaper -- this means your melee units will be sent flying; but are still essential otherwise your ranged units will be mulched.
The Dreadnaught
“Vancleef takes double damage from Siege units. "Hammers smash buildings. That building just happens to float, for now."”
The Dreadnaught is the fifth and final boss located in the Westfall zone. It requires 9 Onyxia Sigils to unlock. The Dreadnaught's main ability is a targeting reticule that patrols the map. Any of your minis that walk through the reticule will be fired at by a cannon blast from The Dreadnaught across the map. Faster units can evade this cannon blast, but slower ones will almost always be hit by it. It does not damage the Dreadnaught's own minions. As the description of the mission states, the Dreadnaught (Vancleef) is susceptible to Siege damage.
Heroic Dreadnaught is largely the same except there are now two targetting reticules patrolling the map instead of one.
Notes
- Most of the characters are rares or notable quest mobs from the Westfall zone or Deadmines in World of Warcraft.
- While not visibly present, the Dreadnaught is referred to as 'VanCleef', as in Edwin VanCleef, and is named in the files as VancleefShip.
- Marshal Redpaw is a call back to the Warcraft Rumble announcement trailer, where one of the Footmen has their fallen arm replaced by a Gnoll Brute's.
- Old Murk-Eye's boss design is different from that of his mini counterpart, this is due to the fact that he was added later in development to help round out the Beast family.
