Lorewalking (or Lorewalking Campaigns) is a feature available for characters level 10 and above that allows them to revisit four storylines from Warcraft's past. Begin by speaking with Lorewalker Cho in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Dornogal, or Silvermoon City.

There are three available repeatable quest chains:

Experience Xal'atath's storyline
Learn more about the Blade of the Black Empire in Legion, see how Xal'atath gained her body in Battle for Azeroth, and go back in time to the Black Empire to experience Xal'atath's encounter with the Old Gods.
Meet the ethereals
Travel to Netherstorm to fight Dimensius, meet up with Alleria and Locus-Walker in Legion, and head into the Shadowlands to meet the brokers and gain access to Tazavesh. Players will also meet up with Ve'nari.
Face the past with Arthas
Return to Stratholme for a condensed version of the culling, feel the stinging cold of betrayal in Wrath of the Lich King, and confront old memories as players step into the role of the Lich King as he faces down the heroes of Azeroth.

While Lorewalking, players won't be able to undertake any other quests, but they'll be able to exit at any time and return to Lorewalker Cho.

Quests

Stories.

Players are breadcrumbed to Lorewalker Cho in Dornogal, Stormwind, Orgrimmar, or Silvermoon City in the N [10-80] Lorewalking quest. Cho pops up a choice window that gives players the option to participate in three storylines. Despite the faction or level identifiers for the quests below, all quests while Lorewalking are neutral, have no class requirement, and are available from levels 10-80.

Wrapper quests award a  [Lorewalker's Crate of Memorabilia], which contains spec- and level-appropriate gear for characters. Max-level players will also receive [Valorstones] and 3-10 Weathered Crests.

Xal'atath

Xal'atath, the Harbinger, was once known as the Blade of the Black Empire. Her history is a well-kept secret. But her words and deeds have affected so many that she is impossible to ignore. Her story must be told.

This storyline awards the  [Echo of the Xal'atath, Blade of the Black Empire] toy and revisits the Shadow priest artifact quest in Legion and the Crucible of Storms storyline in Battle for Azeroth, and introduces some new lore by viewing an encounter set during the time of the Black Empire.

Ethereals

Mysterious and elusive, the ethereals that have traveled to our world speak little of their history. Yet there is much to be learned from the few things they do choose to share...

This storyline rewards the  [K'aresh Memory Crystal] toy and revisits portions of the Netherstorm storyline in The Burning Crusade, the War of Light and Shadow in Legion, and the Chains of Domination campaign in Shadowlands.

The Lich King

Arthas Menethil. It is said that when he was born, the very forests of Lordaeron whispered his name. But did the forests of his youth know what he would eventually grow to become?

This storyline rewards the  [Royal Visage] toy and revisits the Culling of Stratholme from Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, the Alliance-only Frostmourne storyline from Wrath of the Lich King, the Alliance perspective of the Halls of Reflection dungeon, and the Lich King encounter in Icecrown Citadel from Arthas's perspective.

The Elves of Quel'thalas

The elves of Azeroth each have their own stories that weave together into an intricate tapestry of history. For the blood elves and the void elves, it is a story shaped by strength in the face of utmost tragedy.

Lorewalking scenario

User interface.

While participating in a Lorewalking questline, the player character has the Lorewalking buff. During a Lorewalking quest, the player has access to a special UI with options to Ask a Question or Exit Lorewalking.

The first option summons Lorewalker Cho on a bench and seats the player character, offering extra dialogue.

The second option prompts a confirmation window:

If you are lost, try using Ask a Question to be teleported to the right area.
Leaving lorewalking will teleport you back to your capital city. You will be able to resume this Lorewalking Campaign again at any time, unless you start a different one.
Do you wish to proceed?
Yes/No
Lorewalker Cho says: Thank you for listening to my tale, friend.

Achievements

Notes

Innkeepers in capital cities also point to the Lorewalkers in the city:

Gossip Who are the Lorewalkers that have come to the city?

Lorewalker Cho has come to Orgrimmar to share his stories.

The Lorewalkers you see are his helpers, working to gather tales for him.
