The Knights of the Brown Table are a group of kobolds found in Campalot in the Ringing Deeps led by Arfur.
History
Some time after the war in Khaz Algar, adventurers encountered the Verdigrease Knight in the Verdant Gutters, who challenged them to strike him down, and if not, they would have to endure the same in turn. Adventurers accepted the challenge and hit the knight, who survived and sent them to join the Knights of the Round Table in Campalot with a reminder that he would return at a later time to complete what they started.[1] In Campalot, they were greeted by Gullhead, who initiated the adventurers as squires and made them help around the castle to earn their spurs.[2] Next, in order to prove their worth for knighthood, Walkmay had adventurers mount a Trusty Steed and lance slimes.[3] Furthermore, he sent them on a mission to slay Greasebaddaden, the king of the giant slimes nearby.[4] Afterwards, Marline sent adventurers on two grand quests. One, to find the Holey Grail, which they did after talking to Fishcan.[5] And two, to recover the legendary kobold shovel, Excavator, from the stone it was in.[6] When adventurers returned, having completed their quests, the Verdigrease Knight appeared once again and told them it was time to fulfill their promise. Adventurers then let the knight strike them, wounding them grievously but surviving, proving their bravery.[7] Having proven all the virtues needed for a knight, Arfur had one last task for them: to beseech the Lady of the Lake for her blessing. However, unknown to the kobolds, the Lady of the Lake was a kobyss, eating the Questing Knights that were sent to her while the kobolds thought they were just getting lost along the way. After slaying the kobyss and returning to Campalot, adventurers were given a title and officially joined the Knights of the Brown Table.[8]
