The Awakening Machine inside the Hall of Awakening

The Hall of Awakening [38, 13] is located in north-central Ringing Deeps. The zone is the starting zone of the new playable race Earthen. It is the location of the Awakening Machine, the device that awakens earthen from stasis-lock.

After the machines of the Ringing Deeps were damaged by the Great Sundering, the Awakening Machine lost its connection to the Manifold and ran on auxiliary power until it eventually shutdown.[1] Without the machine, no new earthen could be awakened and their numbers dwindled over the centuries. High Speaker Eirich retreated to the deeps to repair it,[2] but was unable to do so until he was approached by Xal'atath. She offered him the power to restart the machine, but it would awaken the earthen as skardyn instead.[3] The High Speaker accepted the deal and corrupted the machine until he was confronted by Speaker Brinthe and her allies. Magni Bronzebeard channeled Azeroth's power through him and cleansed the machine, allowing new earthen to awaken for the first time in a millennium.[4]
