History

After Xal'atath vanquished Dimensius the All-Devouring on K'aresh and ascended to a new height of power, she invaded the Isle of Quel'Danas with the Devouring Host, intent on claiming the Sunwell. At the Sunwell Plateau, Regent Lord Lor'themar Theron and Lady Liadrin led the defenses, and found themselves confronted by Xal'atath herself, who unleashed a psychic attack that tormented the Sunwell's guardians. As the Harbinger and her minions closed in on the regent lord, a coruscation of Light blazed from the Sunwell, and Liadrin rejoined the battle having manifested the miracle of the Vanguard of the Light. Freed from the psychic assault, Lor'themar declared that the Sunwell would not fall so long as he drew breath, and rallied his bolstered forces to victory, while Xal'atath disappeared from the battlefield.[3]
Midnight
While the Vanguard managed to repel the Host away from the Sunwell, the Void creatures were massing across the Isle of Quel'Danas for another attack.[4] As the Voidfront forces at Parhelion Plaza attempted to maintain a foothold,[5] the Host commanders The Wasting, Blightfang, and Latrunculon were encountered by the adventurers before their troops could overwhelm the Vanguard forces.[6][7]
During the battle at Sun's Reach Harbor, the Host was pushed back into their Voidstorm after the Vanguard defeated the Voidwake Behemoth, only for several of the behemoths to arise from void portals.[8] At the Sunwell Plateau, Imperatus and its forces attempted to reach the Sunwell, however, the paladins and priests managed to focus their holy powers into the holy well, from which a massive light beam erupted to hold the Voidstorm at bay.[9]

It may have once been the army of Dimensius the All-Devouring, hence its name. Xal'atath may have gained leadership over them when she devoured the Void Lord's power in the Dark Heart.
