Dastardly Duos is a six-week event for level 80 characters that runs during patch 11.1.5 from 3 June to 15 July 2025. Join brave champions in the Dastardly Dome against terrifying villains from Azeroth's past. Compete Vinnie's weekly quest to earn a Champion gear piece, and a unique Dastardly item! Duos participants are ilvl synced down to 619 (Adventurer 4) via the Achievement worldevent dastardlyduos.png Play Nice, Play Fair buff.

Base camps are located at [62, 79] south of the Contender's Gate PvP area in Dornogal, atop the gatehouse at [68, 80] in the Valley of Heroes of Stormwind, and at [50, 93] atop the Gates of Orgrimmar.

Rewards

Players win one Veteran-track dungeon piece for each fight. Each week, characters earn one Champion-track piece from the weekly  [Dastardly Prize Purse] quest reward, as well as two toys, a pet, and a mount for completing weekly quests.

Matches

Dastardly Duos matches take place in an instanced version of the Demolition Dome, queued for by speaking with Xyggie Marou at base camps. Inside, players have an untimed period to buff up, consume Dastardly food and potions, and then run toward the gate to enter the arena proper. Near the gate, the game pops up a confirmation window asking if players are ready to begin, then counts down a ten-second timer.

A score display and five-minute timer appear at the top of the screen. Defeat all the trash, then two waves of at least two bosses before time runs out to get a better score.

Dying in combat does not end the run, though it does reduce the score. An achievement even requires dying at least three times and then winning the fight!

Foods and potions

Food options

In the southwest corner of the waiting area are tables containing five Dastardly Foods:

  • Inv misc food 65.png Beefy Burger — Damage increased by 30%. Damage taken decreased by 30%.
  • Inv misc food 145 cake.png Cake from a Fan — Movement speed increased by 65%.
  • Inv misc food 66.png "Challenging" Hot Dog — x2 Kill and Survival bonus, but sometimes you get gassy...
  • Inv misc food 158 fish 81.png "Challenging" Shrimpy Fish — Damage decreased by 40%. Damage taken increased by 40%. Kill and Survival bonus: x2
  • Inv misc food 50.png Hearty Haunch — Physical damage taken reduced by 80%. Magical damage taken reduced by 40%. Damage done reduced by 40%. Threat generation increased by 600%.
Dastardly potions

In the northeast corner are three types of potions:

  • Inv 10 alchemy bottle shape1 empty.png Bottle of Invisibility — Jump to turn invisible!
  • Inv 111 fishingbobber can.png Can of Amps — Movement speed increased by 65%.
  • Inv alchemy crystalvial.png Vial of Healing — Gain 5% health every 6 seconds.

Gears and items

Bosses drop gears on the ground that increase the remaining time, call out another boss, or spawn a goblin zapper. They also rarely contain a  [Master Key],  [Bullhorn of Calling], a  [Burner Clock], or a  [BIG Burner Clock].

Keys can be used on the flying machines in the arena. Bullhorns also spawn another boss, and clocks will increase time on the clock.

A total of ten gears appear over the course of a match.

Scoring

Matches are scored based on six metrics:

  • Damaging bosses, trash, and props
  • Finishing the match quickly
  • Avoiding a lot of dying
  • Damaging enemies inside "x2" zones
  • Using Gears, and keeping time bars full
  • Using "Challenging" foods

The key to a good score is to damage and kill enemies while they're inside the blue x2 score circles. Kick the Cheery Bombs together under the light and stand in them to multiply the score. Additional score circles will appear and overlap as time goes by, and the score from bosses will multiply based on the number of overlapping circles. Make sure to interact with all ten Gears that spawn over the course of a match!

If the NPC tank is keeping mobs outside of the score circle, use one of the vehicles to knock them into the scoring area.

Patch changes

  • TheWarWithin-Petopia-Logo.png Hotfix (2025-06-06):
    • Rewards have been moved to Wodin the Troll-Servant. Each reward listed with Wodin will show the quest that's required to obtain it and which week it will become available.
    • Dastardly Prize Purses now contain 250 [Resonance Crystals].
    • The bug causing Dastardly Duo match player's Play Nice, Play Fair aura to force very low item level has been fixed.
Play Nice, Play Fair was setting the ilvl to the lowest-equipped item, which was often an equipped shirt.
