Celestial Dungeons

The Celestial Dungeons is an optional difficulty tier for Mists of Pandaria dungeons that can be queued up through the Dungeon Finder, requiring a minimum item level of 435 (the same as Heroic dungeons). It is a culmination of the Titan Rune Dungeons and the Elemental Rune Dungeons.

In this difficulty, enemies throughout the dungeon will have increased health and damage and are infused with occasional raid-level mechanics and enemies, including appearances from bosses of the current raid tier. Players will commune with the August Celestials which allows them to gain powerful blessings to overcome the challenges in this difficulty tier.

To mimic how Raid Finder content was originally released, Celestial Dungeons will be available two weeks after the opening of Mogu'shan Vaults and the loot pool will update to the next raid tier (Throne of Thunder, Siege of Orgrimmar) two weeks after that raid has opened.

Blessings

Upon entering a dungeon, players are greeted by the August Celestials that players can choose which Celestial they may want assistance from, granting the player a blessing. Strategic use of these blessings will be key to success.

Fragments and gear

The [August Stone Fragment] is the Celestial Dungeon currency used to purchased gear upgrades from the Avatar of the August Celestials, in the Shrine of Two Moons and Shrine of Seven Stars. Each boss in the dungeon will drop 2 [August Stone Fragment], per player. The final boss, if all other bosses have been defeated, will drop 3 fragments. The first run of the day will reward 4 fragments, with subsequent completes in the same day rewarding 2 fragments.

There is also a daily quest from Challenger Soong or Challenger Wuli providing 3 fragments. The daily quest will never be the same 2 days in a row and will never be the same dungeon as the Challenge Mode daily quest.

Two weeks after the Mogu'shan Vaults has opened, Celestial Dungeons will be available and offer the following items for purchase:

Two weeks after the Heart of Fear opens:

  • Celestial Tier 14 Chest Tokens
  • Celestial Tier 14 Leg Tokens
  • All Celestial items from Heart of Fear
    • This includes Celestial versions of the bind-on-equip wrist gear that can drop in the raid

Two weeks after the Terrace of Endless Spring opens:

  • Celestial Tier 14 Shoulder Tokens
  • Celestial Tier 14 Helm Tokens
  • Celestial Tier 14 Hand Tokens
  • All Celestial items from the Terrace of Endless Spring
  • When the Celestial Dungeons and vendor are updated for the Terrace of Endless Spring, players may purchase a bind-on-account Satchel of Stone Fragments.
    • This costs 10 August Stone Fragments, and when used, it is consumed and grants the holder 10 August Stone Fragments.
      • This will allow players to complete Celestial Dungeons on one character, while farming for another, or using that character to purchase transmog items for your account that your other cannot purchase from the vendor.
      • This will also allow players to transfer August Stone Fragments to their alts, who can then open them for the currency and spend them on Lesser Charms of Good Fortune, giving players a way to get their alts this currency.

Achievements

There are achievements available for completing each dungeon with in this difficulty tier, including a meta-achievement,  [Pandaria Celestial Hero], that rewards the  [Reins of the Celestial Riding Crane].

Notes

  • Mists of Pandaria Classic will not have Raid Finder. Instead, the Raid Finder loot pool from the current raid tier is available in the Celestial Dungeons. The Raid Finder items are instead marked as "Celestial" in the tooltip.
  • Some items are target-farmable as well as random drops.
  • Legendary quest progress, with quest additions made to preserve the lore, should players choose to use Celestial Dungeons rather than Raids to progress the legendary quest chain. For example,  [Sigil of Power] and  [Sigil of Wisdom] will drop from the last boss of the dungeon while on the associated quest. Players may also take the route of Doubt and obtain the  [Chimera of Doubt] by declining Wrathion's request to harness Fear.
