Category talk:Neutral settlements

Shouldn't Booty Bay, Strangelthorn Vale be added? Would seem to be a very key neutral town and also a major flight point. I added Booty Bay to this category, if nobody objects. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Troodon (talk · contr). 12:32, 23 October 2007

Booty Bay is technically a city, but you revealed by your idea that there was no Neutral cities category, so I created one and put Booty Bay and other neutral cities in that category. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 9:23 AM PST 1 Dec 2007

Criteria

What is the critera for something being in Category:Neutral settlements vs Category:Villages? I'm thinking farshire and Kaskala, for instance, though Ambermill also qualifies. Control? Ambermill is still controlled by its residents. Is a quest hub? Farshire is one. Utility to players? Sun's Reach has vendors, postbox, etc etc. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:05, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Kaskala is not under the rule of the Tuskar since the Kvaldir overunned it.

Farshire seems (I'm Horde) to be lost for the Alliance, and anyway the Horde isn't welcome in it. So it's a Town only.

Ambermill is runned by NPCs alligned with the Alliance, but reactive to the Horde, so it's not quite neutral.

Sun's Reach is neutral, providing services to both and forbid fights.

A neutral town as we describe it, seems to be an independant town aligned with neither the Horde or the Alliance, but providing services for both and forbiding (or not) the fights between both in its walls.

I put things badly, perhaps. The examples I gave were under Category:Villages instead of being under Neutral towns, Alliance towns, or Horde towns. To that extent, you seem to say that Sun's Reach (at least) should be in Neutral towns. But similarly, Violet Stand would not be (no services, unless you're counting the portal crystal), nor would Bronzebeard Encampment as far as I recall. Ambermill & Farshire - no services. Does that agree with your description? Would either or both of Violet Strand and Bronzebeard Encampment fall up into C:towns for the same basis as Farshire? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:53, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Ambermill & Farshire are anyway Alliance-aligned even if they are presently not under its control.

Yep, the absence of Services should count. So how do we decide? A town must have the three following to be: Vendor, Flight, One Building at least. Would a quest giver count in it?

Disagree. What about Ghost Walker Post? No Postbox, no flight point, just permanent buildings (as it were), quest givers and vendors. Stars' Rest has tents, but flight point and vendors (and quest givers). Same with Rebel Camp. Does "supported by a mini-map arrow when nearby" make a difference? The 3 locations your gave are either H or A, but not Neutral xD

All are indicated by an arrow as far as I can tell.

Gourra, as you've refined/redefined the criteria for this category, you might want to examine the entries to see if they all still qualify.
